Popcorn 2008 is underway!
10/5/08:
Update from Jane
Hope everyone is having a successful popcorn sale so far! We are about
half way through our sale period... we are collecting money and orders
at our next pack meeting (Oct 16).
If you have extra popcorn that is not selling well and would like to
exchange it, please let me (or Craig) know. Also, if you did not
participate in the Show and Deliver and would like to pick up some,
let us know as well.
We are anticipating a Popcorn Swap at the Scout House this Friday
evening. This is a time for you to swap a type of popcorn that is not
selling well for you for some that your customers are requesting; or
to pick up some popcorn and begin filling your orders.
Either way, please let us know how you are doing and if you are
interested in a swap night. We will send out more details of the swap
later this week.
Thanks, and GO POPCORN!
9/30/08:
Here is some information on the online order keys and how they work, specifically how the pack gets credit.
- The orders placed on-line will be credited to your scout and the pack.
- The orders placed on-line will not be counted toward our totals for the
council for additional awards and commissions during this sales period.
- The orders placed on-line will not count toward trails-end prizes for
your scout.
In summary, the orders placed on-line will help support the pack. The pack
will use these totals when determining the "Big Trip" reward. However, the
orders placed on-line will not count towards the goal of $12,681 of being
able to shave the Popcorn Kernel's head! ;)
Also, the order key may be used anytime during the year to purchase
trails-end popcorn to support our pack.
So, there you have it. It is a great convenience and a good way for out of town family members to support our pack!
9/5/08:
Popcorn Distribution (from the Popcorn Kernel!)
Pack 115 Family,
The Popcorn Sale will soon begin....
As was mentioned at the Organizational Pack Meeting last Thursday, the "Popcorn Sale" is our main fund raiser which allows us to purchase items like derby cars, rockets, badges/awards, pay for our blue and gold banquet, pack meeting supplies, etc. This also is a great opportunity for our scouts to learn about selling, handling money, rewards for their efforts, and to get over possible shyness when they interact with the many customers they will meet during the sale.
In Preparation for the "Show and Deliver Order", I need some info from each of you. I need your response by Wednesday, September 10 so that I can get everything entered in for our Pack on time.
1. Each Scout Family will normally be provided a Standard Set of "Show and Deliver" popcorn on September 26, 7:00pm, at the Scout House. This year, the standard set will most likely be the following (Subject to slight change, since we have to submit our recommendation to council and they will have to accept):
Standard "Show and Deliver" Popcorn Set for each Scout
1 Case of Unbelievable Butter (6 X $15) = $90
1 Case of Butter Light (6 X $15) = $90
1 Case of 9.5 oz Carmel Corn (12 X $10) = $120
1 Case of 23 oz Gourmet Carmel Corn (6 X $20) = $120 (with almonds, pecans and cashews)
Total = $420
I need to know from each scout family, if you are willing to accept the above "Show and Deliver" popcorn which your scout will be responsible to sale. The council and our pack prefer no returns, so please think this over, and respond back, indicating Yes I will take the $420 "Show and Deliver" order or No, I would prefer to only sale "Take Orders". Either way is fine, but I need confirmation so we can insure no left over popcorn. Reminder, we will once again do our "Swap Night" this year, between our Pack families to swap popcorn amongst oursleves toward the end of the sale, on a designated night, which assist all in filling orders.
Again, for now, I just need to know.
Yes I will take the $420 "Show and Deliver" order for my scout please.
or
No, I prefer to take "Take Orders" only, no "Show and Deliver" for my scout please.
or
If you would like a different package of Show and Deliver popcorn, you can look at the popcorn that is available for Show and Deliver at the following address and let me know.

(please note that the chocolate-covered items will not be available until our final delivery in November.)
If you have any other questions, please call me.
2. The popcorn kickoff and distribution of forms will take place at the September 18 pack meeting and we will distribute the "Show and Deliver" popcorn on September 26 at the Scout House at 7:00pm.
3. Pack 115 will again this year be providing our Top 3 Sellers with pack prizes over and above the Trails-End Prizes. The prizes will be on display at the September 18 Pack Meeting.
4. All Scouts who sell $500 or more of popcorn, will have their "Big Trip" paid for by the pack.
Thanks in advance for your assistance in this great fundraiser for our Pack.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Please respond back on item #1 above, by Wednesday, September 10 so that I can summarize and prepare our "Show and Deliver" order for the council.
